In 2006, I attended PETRONAS educamp, applying for PETRONAS scholar to further my studies in UTP . Educamp ni macam persediaan before interview which will be on the last day. During my time, it was 3D2N if i'm not mistaken. Recently I heard 2D1N only. But never mind, content and cara interview still the same I guess. Educamp encourage candidates to speak in English. Jangan terkejut if yang datang tuh suma A1/A+ untuk English tapi tak boleh speak English. Power in writing doesn't means that you are good when speaking in English. Other than that, some tests such as IQ test, English test and Math test. I am not sure Educamp for other scholar such as TNB and others have the same test or not. If anyone knows, tell me thanx :). During Educamp, they also share some tips for interview. Please listen carefully and try your best to apply what they told you.
For example, please choose proper attire for interview. Of course for guys kemeja, sluar slack, kasut kulit hitam, tali pinggang kulit, tie and for girls baju kurung/blouse/etc. Choice of colour is as important as other factor. Please NO black shirt. White is a safe colour. Kalau boleh pilih warna yang lembut, cerah but not too striking. The colour of your dress will give bad or good impression to the interviewer. Black suggest that you are not a confident person because of the gloomy nature of the colour. Gambar bawah summary of good appearance.

Interview terbahagi kepada 2 sessions which are individual dan group. Consists of 1 panel of 2 persons. Interviewer adalah lecturer UTP/Staff PETRONAS. Sebelum interview start, you'll be seated at a table with a few candidates. They are the other candidates that will be in the same group with you during group interview. Flow interview more or less :
Sebelum interview
- Make sure off handphone. Kalau tak pun silent so that focus tak terganggu.
- Duduk di satu waiting area.
- Bila nama di panggil akan masuk ke satu lagi bilik.
- Atas meja ada beberapa card dengan problem statement yang sama tapi solution berbeza.
- Pilih satu card. READ CAREFULLY. Fahami problem statement dan solution yang di provide.
- Kalau setuju dengan solution yang di beri, elaborate solution tersebut mengikut kehendak problem statement. Kalau tak setuju boleh come up dengan solution sendiri.
- Yang hendak di assess adalah confidence, how you elaborate, how you present yourself, how you communicate dengan orang lain.
- Topic yang di beri selalunya environment, green technology, current issue. Jarang perkara technical engineering.
- Everything in English. Kalau stuck tak tahu perkataan dalam English boleh guna Bahasa Melayu untuk few words. Di maafkan.

- After around 15-20minutes, akan di panggil seorang demi seorang untuk masuk ke bilik interview.
- Bagi salam dan jabat tangan (same gender). Senyum :)

- Introduce yourself. Selain personal detail, cerita juga kelebihan diri/pencapaian/penglibatan dalam apa-apa program/pertandingan yang releven. *jual diri sikit but jgn too much.
- Soalan yang ditanya
a) berkenaan problem statement yang telah di beri awal-awal tadi. Huraikan dengan yakin. Jangan terlalu melampau meng"goreng". Especially technical terms/things(kalau ada). Inteviewer anda adalah orang bijak pandai dan berpengalaman.
b) kenapa anda pilih course yang di apply? Bagi reasoning anda. Make sure buat research before pergi interview.
Group Interview (20-25minutes)
- Anda di suruh untuk buat discussion among youself regarding problem statement yang di beri awal-awal tadi.
- Cuba untuk take initiative jadi chairman discussion. Tonjolkan diri sket.
- Jangan conquer discussion sampai only you speaking and tak beri peluang kat orang lain.
- Once in a while tanye "what your opinion" kat orang lain. Tunjuk yang kita open to other ideas also.
- Dont reject dengan kasar. Use softer language untuk tunjuk disagreement dengan pendapat orang lain. " I think ur idea is great but..."
- Kalau groupmate sempoi, bola kawtim dengan diorg sebelom masuk interview. Berlakon sama-sama. Guna kebijaksanaan anda.
Sebelum pergi untuk interview, minta restu ibu bapa. Minta tolong mereka doakan kejayaan anda. Insya Allah.
